Field of Light

One of the sites I’ve been reading recently thanks to boingboing is dezeen. They update fairly frequently and usually have some neat architecture or design thing to tickle the brain. Today there was an article about a lighting art installation called Field of Light by English artist and lighting designer Bruce Munroe.

Here are two rehosted images from the articles. The links have many more wonderful pictures.

Heartbeats

There’s this ad you may have seen. In the time of the internet this is undoubtedly so old it is contemporary with dinosaurs but I’m going to indulge myself for a bit.

Sony Bravia Color Ad

The song in it is called heartbeats and was written by a band called “The Knife” the video for which is also on the youtubes.

Heartbeats – The Knife

The song was then covered by Jose Gonzales. There are a few versions by him. This one is different from the ad and is a little more simple.

Heartbeats – Jose Gonzales

Somewhere in here Scala and Kolacny Brothers (a Belgian girls choir) did a cover of the song as well. I can’t find a youtube link to it but I’m sure it’s out there somewhere. It’s very good. In fact I would say it’s my favorite version of the song. What all this leads up to is that someone created a mashup of several versions of The Knife, Jose Gonzales and Scala and Kolacny Brothers which is awesome. The information section on youtube has a web address http://www.beatswamp.com/ which, sadly, seems to be defunct but I’m going to link here in faith that it will return.

Jenkees

There’s this guy Ronald Jenkees I was linked to in the PA youtube thread. I’m gonna put up some links to videos. He is awesome and fun. In fact most of his thing seems to be about how you should just have fun when you’re making music. It’s actually pretty inspiring. Woo.
